This piece is the first in an ongoing series that explores the passage, perception, and memory of time and space.
The first instalment of a series of pieces and improvisations that are inspired by bird songs I have captured in my field recordings. This piece had its premiere for a fundraiser for the Language and Cultural Center, Nimkil Aazhibikong. Proceeds from the fundraiser went towards funding solar power for the center.
The second instalment in a series of pieces and improvisations that are inspired by bird songs I have documented in field recordings. Dolichonyx oryzivorus is the scientific name for the Bobolink. This improvisation had its premiere at this year's Improvisation Festival organized by The International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation. The 24-hour festival featured over 150 international performers of all disciplines—music, dance, theatre, poetry, visual arts, and more—showcasing new, improvised works.
The third instalment in the series of pieces and improvisations inspired by bird songs I've documented in field recordings. Catharus guttatus is the scientific name for the Hermit Thrush. This piece was commissioned by Nick Storring and The Canadian Music Centre for their Mulitilocation Festival in 2021 and is dedicated to Jon Hassell.
